After the chaos and constant movement of Thailand, Laos felt quiet in a way that almost forced me to slow down. It became one of the first places that taught me the difference between observing a culture and consuming it.

Thailand was my first real backpacking trip, and somewhere between the night markets, jungle humidity, temples, chaotic bus rides, and complete uncertainty, I realized I wasn't simply taking a trip. I was beginning a lifelong relationship with the world.
